Intel ha annunciato dei nuovi processori entry level che sfruttano l’architettura Core già presente sui noti Core 2 Duo. Fanno parte della serie Pentium E 21×0 e Celeron 400. Mentre i Pentium E sono dei processori dual core, i Celeron hanno un solo core. Altra differenza, mentre i processori Core 2 adottano da 2 a 4 MB di cache L2, i Pentium E ne implementano 1 MB, contro i 512 KB dei nuovi Celeron 400.
Utilizzando il FSB a 800 MHz, i quattro nuovi processori annunciati da Intel sono il Celeron 430 (1,8 GHz), il Celeron 440 (2 GHz), il Pentium E2140 (1,6 GHz) ed il Pentium E2160 (1,8 GHz).
